Nina has since completed a Mandala Art Diploma and various mindfulness courses, enriching her understanding and practice of this intricate and meditative art. Nina loves sharing her passion for the transformative power of mandala creation.   • In the Style of...Beatrix Potter

    Helen Beatrix Heelis, usually known as Beatrix Potter, was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist. She is best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was her first commercially published work in 1902. Mon 25th Aug 7.30pm - Squirrel Nutkin Sun 5th Oct 7.30pm - Peter Rabbit with radish In this gently guided session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! What do I need? We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible ​ We will be using watercolour to create Peter Rabbit, you'll need: Watercolour set that includes primary colours with black and white A range of brushes as above Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) ​ For both: You'll need a pot of water, a cloth and a smile!

    Join Liddy online to paint "Canada Goose" in this gently guided watercolour wildlife art class What do I need? We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible For this Watercolour session: Watercolour set/paints that includes primary colours with black and white Coloured Pencil Crayons Optional - Watercolour Pencils A range of brushes as above Optional - a black drawing pen Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) For Acrylic sessions: Acrylic paints that include primary colours plus black and white A selection of three brushes – flat brush, medium round brush and a detail brush will suffice Canvas, canvas board or cardboard (primed with white paint) We usually work to approximately A4 size, but feel free to use whatever is your preference You’ll also need a pot(s) of water and a cloth or kitchen towel If you’d like to paint in a different medium than the session is advertised as, please mention to Liddy at the start of the Zoom meeting and she will provide the additional guidance About the tutor: Liddy is the creative force and main tutor with Something Less Boring.   • Paint Like...Andy Warhol

    Andy Warhol was an American visual artist, film director and producer. A leading figure in the pop art movement, Warhol is considered the most important artist of the second half of the 20th century. In this gently guided online art class session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible ​ Acrylic Sessions (such as Paint Like...): Acrylic Paint - Primary Colours plus black and white (we will guide for colour mixing) Brushes - As a basic rule you will just need a range three or four different sized brushes, small, medium and large Brush examples (but not definitive) Flat Brush (1/2 inch or larger), Round Brush (No2 and No4 and No8) Canvas or Canvas Board or Cardboard (prepared with white paint) in terms of size, the choice is yours, but as a guide A4 paper size or bigger ​ Watercolour: Watercolour set that includes primary colours with black and white A range of brushes as above Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) ​ For both: You'll need a pot of water, a cloth and a smile!

    Drawing on styles and technique you will be guided through this session to create an original version of your own Totoro Studio Ghibli, Inc. is a Japanese animation studio based in Koganei, Tokyo. It has a strong presence in the animation industry and has expanded its portfolio to include various media such as short subjects, television commercials and two television films. Their work has been well received by audiences and recognized with numerous awards. Their mascot and most recognizable symbol, the character Totoro from the 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro, is a giant spirit inspired by raccoon dogs and cats - Wikipedia Mon 15th Sept 7.30pm - Totoro We will look at examples of the artist's work to gain an understanding of the characteristics and traits of their work and how we might carry that forward and use similar methods in our own work What do I need?   • Middleton's Art Night

    An evening of artistic endeavour and delicious dining in the heart of MK city centre at the warm and welcoming Middleton's restaurant, our evening will begin with glass of Prosecco (beer and soft drinks are also available) then Liddy will guide you to achieve the best from your creativity and complete a fabulous watercolour painting. When the brushes are downed and your paintings framed, Middleton's fabulous kitchen will serve your delicious meal. All equipment, materials and frame, meal and first drink are included. (menu in images below) Friday 18th July 7pm - Highland Cow (watercolour) Liddy uses her own relaxed style and will show you plenty of tips and tricks to get the best from your pencil and paintbrush!
